Under the theme “Sharing knowledge about ecosystem services and natural capital to build a sustainable future”, the ESP Latina America and Caribbean Conference is set to take place in La Serena, Chile from 6th to 10th November 2023. The ARIES technical training will take place on monday 6th, organized and led by BC3 forest data scientist Alba Márquez, aims to achieve three primary objectives.

Firstly, it will introduce participants to the application of semantics and AI in ecosystem services modelling. Secondly, it will showcase the capabilities of the ARIES application, catering to both scientists and land managers. Finally, the workshop will provide a hands-on experience by applying the tool to a practical case of ecosystem services modelling.

Alba will also dive into the k.Explorer, a user-friendly web-based interface that grants easy access to the ARIES models and data network. Notably, the k.Explorer interface is already utilized by esteemed organizations such as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

As professionals gather to share knowledge and strengthen networks in the platform provided by this conference, the workshop will empower participants with the necessary skills and insights to leverage ARIES for sustainable management and decision-making.

This conference serves as a pivotal moment for ecosystem services professionals in Latin America and the Caribbean to unlock the power of technology and pave the way towards a more sustainable future.
