As the first subject-specific hub of its kind, the ARIES for SEEA Sector Hub joined last year to the other Regional Hubs within the United Nations Global Platform, a collaborative environment established by the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics (UN-CEBD). This platform aims to foster global statistical collaboration and synergy.

The creation of the Sector Hub aligns with the broader objectives of the UN-CEBD and the UN Global Platform, aiming to enhance collaboration, cooperation, innovation, and knowledge exchange within the global statistical community. Specifically, the ARIES for SEEA Sector Hub focuses on advancing the integration of ARIES within the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA).

Among its primary objectives, the hub will expand the functionality and innovation behind the ARIES for SEEA application through collaborative project activities. Physically hosted by BC3 in Bilbao, Spain, the hub will also facilitate capacity-building and communication efforts through the ARIES team.

Moreover, the hub serves as a platform to promote the interoperability of data and models in the realm of environmental-economic accounting and sustainability on a global scale. It will integrate cutting-edge technology and data science methods, including AI and Big Data, to support the SEEA community’s ongoing initiatives and objectives.
